Bad Bug Bite

As you can see poor Aiden got a bug bit under his eye and is having a reaction to it. Poor little guy. We took him to the doctors and they put him on an antibiotic. Unfortunately it has continued to swell and spread into his upper eyelid. We are hoping that the swelling goes down or we will have to take him to the ER:(

California Trip

For memorial day we decided to pack the kids in the car and drive for 12 hours to California. Sounds fun right? We left around 9 pm and drove all night so the kids slept almost the entire way. The ride back was a little rough. We had them watch movies on our dvd player at night and that helped keep them distracted for most of the ride back.

We visited the beach, went snorkeling, Matt kayaked in the ocean and Jake ran around a lot. Aiden didn't like the sand or the water and stayed in the same spot the whole time.

This is why are kids don't sleep with us anywhere we go! Sorry its kind of cloudy, our camera got condinsation in it when we were at the beach.

This is what it looked like in the water!

We also went to San Diego Zoo. We used all of our batteries in the waterproof camera, and our other camera said "memory card error" so we didn't get any pictures at the zoo:( I was really bummed that are camera broke down at the zoo. Oh well what could we do. Other than that we had a really fun time.

Cinco De Mayo

On this particular day I wasn't feeling too hot-I had the chills and muscle aches. Anyways Jake wanted his favorite "pop porn" and so I popped him a batch. Matt came home with Cafe Rio for dinner (rare treat since we don't eat out) and because the kids won't eat burritos I had to accomidate their dinner plates with something easy to fix. Here is what they had: Pop corn, peaches, and grated cheese. I guess I'm not winning mother of the year award!

Jakes Finally Sleeping in his room....

Well he is getting closer that is. For those who don't know we have been letting Jake sleep in our room... on our floor...NOT IN OUR BED... for the past year. I know bad habit. It all started when Jake would point to the ceiling and say their was a "rarr" meaning monster up there. I guess I have a soft spot for monster phobias so I would let him sleep with us. I tried the squirt bottle thing where he squirts his monsters and say "die" but only think that reinforced his fears that the monsters were real. If we put him in his bed at night every single morning we would wake up to find Jake in our room. After a couple of nights in our room he refused to sleep at all in his room. He spent many nights sleeping on a daycare pad in the hall or in our room. I thought that remodeling his room would help. I changed the paint color, the molding, bought a new bunk bed, but that didn't help at all. I'm not sure what did the trick. Maybe its because he wants to be with his little brother? Or he has decided that the bed is more comfortable? Now when we put Jake to bed he sleeps next to Aiden and he doesn't freak out at all. Occasionally I wake up and he has made himself a little bed on our floor. I am glad that he is getting over being freaked out about a monster in our attic.

Tweets

I finally have something to post about. Last night we were sitting down for dinner and "SMACK" a bird flew straight into the window. I started to laugh because birds seem to love our big sliding window and fly into it all the time. This bird happen to be a beautiful meadowlark with a bright yellow belly. These birds sing a very beautiful melody and it made us sad that it was hurt. Matt went out scooped it up and it sat calmly in his hand. It must of had the wind knocked out of him because he didn't try to fly away. We put him in the only bird cage I had (decorative) gave him water and Matt even cut up a worm for him and fed him it from a stick. GROSS!!! I had nothing to do with it. The kids LOVED him and were so excited to see him. They really freaked him out he even escaped once. We had him spend the night in a box and then we released him the next morning. Fun times!
