Cinco De Mayo

On this particular day I wasn't feeling too hot-I had the chills and muscle aches. Anyways Jake wanted his favorite "pop porn" and so I popped him a batch. Matt came home with Cafe Rio for dinner (rare treat since we don't eat out) and because the kids won't eat burritos I had to accomidate their dinner plates with something easy to fix. Here is what they had: Pop corn, peaches, and grated cheese. I guess I'm not winning mother of the year award!

Jakes Finally Sleeping in his room....

Well he is getting closer that is. For those who don't know we have been letting Jake sleep in our room... on our floor...NOT IN OUR BED... for the past year. I know bad habit. It all started when Jake would point to the ceiling and say their was a "rarr" meaning monster up there. I guess I have a soft spot for monster phobias so I would let him sleep with us. I tried the squirt bottle thing where he squirts his monsters and say "die" but only think that reinforced his fears that the monsters were real. If we put him in his bed at night every single morning we would wake up to find Jake in our room. After a couple of nights in our room he refused to sleep at all in his room. He spent many nights sleeping on a daycare pad in the hall or in our room. I thought that remodeling his room would help. I changed the paint color, the molding, bought a new bunk bed, but that didn't help at all. I'm not sure what did the trick. Maybe its because he wants to be with his little brother? Or he has decided that the bed is more comfortable? Now when we put Jake to bed he sleeps next to Aiden and he doesn't freak out at all. Occasionally I wake up and he has made himself a little bed on our floor. I am glad that he is getting over being freaked out about a monster in our attic.

Tweets

I finally have something to post about. Last night we were sitting down for dinner and "SMACK" a bird flew straight into the window. I started to laugh because birds seem to love our big sliding window and fly into it all the time. This bird happen to be a beautiful meadowlark with a bright yellow belly. These birds sing a very beautiful melody and it made us sad that it was hurt. Matt went out scooped it up and it sat calmly in his hand. It must of had the wind knocked out of him because he didn't try to fly away. We put him in the only bird cage I had (decorative) gave him water and Matt even cut up a worm for him and fed him it from a stick. GROSS!!! I had nothing to do with it. The kids LOVED him and were so excited to see him. They really freaked him out he even escaped once. We had him spend the night in a box and then we released him the next morning. Fun times!

Happy Birthday Jacob

Jake turned 4 this March and to celebrate I through him a birthday party. I don't know how much he actually knows about birthdays because of the language barrier so I went with a Curious George theme because that has been his favorite thing since he was 2.

Jake was SO excited to see all his friends. I was really worried about having extra time and what I would do with them but it turns out that what they really wanted to do is play outside. Some of the activities were:

Paint on the wall like Curious George did
Paint a puppet with George's face
Pinata
Easter egg hunt (time eater)
Pin the yellow hat on George
Make a bracelet out of candy life savers
Duck duck goose: I had Matt be in charge of this and it was HALARIOUS to see him teach the kids this game. All the kids kept running away down the hall expecting someone to chase them around the house. He gave up!

I couldn't bring myself to spend $20 on a pinata so I made mine instead. I was very happy at how it turned out. I only spend $1.00 for the tissue paper and the cost of 2 balloons which I already had. Matt thinks that I should have just spent the $20 bucks because of all the time it took me. I told him "no way this is fun." I guess he doesn't enjoy the arts!

Don't count the toes.... he has 11!

Pin the yellow hat on Curious George Game

I really injoyed seeing George get a good beating. He is such a naughty monkey in the t.v shows.

Pop Corn

I can't express how wonderfully Jake is doing. He is repeating EVERYTHING. Well not everything but he is piking up all sorts of words. He is TOTALLY a different kid. HE is happier, and he is even starting to put short sentences together. He is even saying words that I have never heard him say and because of his poor pronunciation I have a hard time understanding what he is asking for.

The other day he was asking for some porn. Yes it sounded just like I spelled it. "Mom I want some porn". I had no clue to what the heck he was talking about. It sounded really bad but kind of funny at the same time. After five minutes of being a patient mom I found out that porn is pop corn. "Oh you want some pop corn". " Ya mom POP. . . PORN"! I just have to pray that he doesn't ask for pop corn when we are somewhere public.

Etsy Shop

I have decided to open up and share my new little etsy shop "TWIGS AND TWEETS". I started it mostly to keep my self sane from my daycare kids. When my daycare kids sleep I keep myself busy by sewing. I used to kill the time by watching t.v or wasting time on the internet. I decided to use what talent I have and see if I can put my mad sewing skills to work. I am not posting this because I expect any of my family or friends to purchase anything ( want to make that clear) but just a way of sharing what I am doing in my life at this time.
